| | New Routes in IdyllwildTahquitz and Suicide Rocks in Southern California are world class climbing areas. Climbers have been climbing here since the 1930's. Tahquitz is where the climbing decimal (5.0-5.15) system was born. There are over 200 routes on Tahquitz and over 300 at Suicide. Climbers have been calling the area "climbed out ", for generations. Is the place climbed out? The answer is no. Sure , most , if not all the major/main lines at both Tahquitz and Suicide have been climbed years ago. But what about surrounding areas, crags, cliffs, and rock faces on surrounding hillsides, hidden valleys, or tucked around corners seemingly unseen up until lately? Here are some new climbs and new adventures for those who wish "something out of the mainstream." Are these climbs squeeze jobs or left-overs? Not at all, but some take a little longer and a little more effort to get to . If you have " done everything on both stones already," sample these. If you venture to these new areas and climbs, most likely you will enjoy yourself , and have a grand adventure. I was very psyched to see this new stuff, and I personally look forward to visiting these places and doing these climbs. I've already sampled a few of these, and they are excellent. I would like to greatly thank Kelly and Kendall Vaught , and Frank Bentwood for sharing this information with us all, and my appreciation for their great friendship and our many adventures over the years, that we have had together at the crags. My thanks also go out to the climbers who put these routes up. Their vision, drive, efforts, and cost of the fixed anchors is all greatly appreciated. We graciously follow in their footsteps and ride their waves. Take good care of these areas, especially the crags near people's homes and private residences. Here's a little bit of the info.
