| Each climb is unique and different from any other climb. Each separate climb has it's own personality. Climbs all have different names, which becomes part of their personalities. Where did some of these crazy route names come from? Some are dull and boring. some are colorful, funny, witty. Others are down-right rude, crude and tattooed. The name might have come from hours of deliberation, soul searching, contemplating, and discussion. The name might have come from a movie you saw, a girl(boy) you dated, your High School P.E. coach, or a part of the anatomy. It might have come from a song in your head, a move on the climb, a vision from God, or a sound your body makes. Basically, it can come from anywhere and be anything, and oftentimes, for some "Unknown" reason", the route names of climbs are politically incorrect. Climbers, as a whole are an adventuresome and fun bunch. Many climbers are silly, immature, and have some growing up to do. Politically incorrect route names have been around ever since climbers started naming climbs. Some route names have caused quite a stir, especially back when our society wasn't as liberal, accepting, and "free" as it is today. Bottom line; have a laugh, have a giggle, and remember just how silly this whole route naming thing is. If you are offended by some of these route names, the people who named them will surely be pleased, for that was probably their intent. Hey; it's just a name!
